SANLAM CAPE TOWN MARATHON · THE FIRST MAJOR IN AFRICA
The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon joins the calendar as the first Abbott World Marathon Major in Africa, with the same international status as Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, New York and Tokyo. If you are collecting Majors, this is a rare line on the résumé.
Start and finish sit next to the DHL Stadium, in the heart of the city, with Table Mountain and the Atlantic seaboard on the horizon. May is autumn in Cape Town: temperatures between 59°F and 70°F, relatively dry weather — one of the best times of year to run there.
Sunday, May 23, is race day. We handle the logistics — you focus on crossing the finish line.

After crossing the finish line at the first Major in Africa, the perfect extension is literally wild. Kruger National Park is one of the largest and best known safari parks in the world. May marks the start of the dry season: vegetation thins out and animals gather near water sources — one of the best times of year to spot the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino) in the wild. Over 140 mammal species and 500 bird species. From the start line to the safari, with Espresso local support from beginning to end.
